Classification of coatings

Paint - a homogeneous suspension of pigment, or mixtures of film-forming substance, which after drying, uniform opaque film with certain properties (protective, decorative, special). Paints may contain fillers, solvents, plasticizers, driers, hardeners, etc. The main purpose of coating materials - Protection of building materials from demolition and corrosion, as well as giving items and decorative designs of the form (decorative finish). putty - a thick viscous mass consisting of a mixture of pigments and fillers dispersed in a film-forming substance. putty used to fill ruts, sealing cracks, potholes and surface roughness. Solvent - a liquid used to dilute the paint material to the desired consistency. Enamel - a suspension of pigment, or mixtures of excipients in the lacquer forming after drying opaque solid protective and decorative film with a different texture and gloss. Enamels are oil, alkyd , epoxy, nitrocellulose lacquer, etc. - a solution film-forming substances in organic solvents, after drying, forming solid transparent uniform film. Primer - a suspension of pigment or mixture of pigments with fillers to be applied to the painted surface after drying and forming a uniform opaque film with good adhesion to the surface providing high-quality finish coat of paint application. In order to classify paints used alpha-numeric system, consisting of 5 groups of signs for paints (enamels), primers, fillers and 4 groups of signs for lacquers. 1. Classification of LMB on the name of the first group indicates the kind of paint material and is written in words: varnish, paint, enamel, primer, putty. 2. Classification of LMB on the nature of film-forming substance second group of characters defines a film-forming substance (a kind of resin, polymer, varnish, etc.) and denoted by letters. MA - oil paint ; PF - pentaphthalic paint, AK - polyacrylic paint; AU - alkyd-urethane paint; AU - alkyd-styrene paint, AC - cellulose acetate paint; BT - bituminous paint; GF - glyptal paint; NC - nitrocellulose paint, IL - polyvinyl acetate paint; BC - vinyl acetate copolymer-dye; LS - silicate paint; KO - silicone paint, QC - rubber paint, ML - melamine paint; MCH - urea paint; NP - petroleum paint; PL - polyester paint (saturated) PE - polyester paint ( unsaturated), SD - polyurethane paint; FA - fenoloalkidnaya paint, FL - phenolic paint; XB - perchlorovinyl paint (PVC) HP - chlorinated polyethylene paint; XC - copolymers of vinyl chloride, paint, FL - epoxy paint; FE - epoksiefirnaya paint, EC - etiltsellyuloznaya paint; YANG - amber color. If the paint is made on the basis of an aqueous dispersion of polymer, then added to the letter index notation - VD. For example, HP VA WA AK or WA cn. 3. Classification of LMB on the main goal of the third group of characters in the designation of varnishes, paints and enamels is determined mainly by the appointment of paint material and is denoted by a digit (according to table). The third group of characters primers and semi-finished varnishes designate a single zero (GF-021), and for fillings - two zeros (Filler PF-002). For gustotertyh oil paints to a third group of signs put one zero (minium MA-015). 1. Weatherproof (coatings resistant to weathering in various climatic conditions, operated in the open air) 2. weatherproof Limited (coatings for interior works) 3 . preservative (coatings for temporary protection of painted surfaces during production, transportation, storage products), 4. Waterproof (coatings resistant to the action fresh and sea water), 5. Special (coatings resistant to X-rays and other radiations, luminous, thermostatically controlled, antifouling, for impregnation of fabrics, dyeing leather, rubber, plastics, non-skid, etc.) 6. oil and petrol resistant (coatings resistant to mineral oils, gasoline, kerosene and other petroleum products), 7. Chemical-resistant (coatings resistant to acids, alkalis and other chemicals), 8. Heat (coatings, resistant to high temperatures), 9. Electric (coatings that are exposed to electrical voltage, current, arcing and surface discharge), 10. coats, semi-finished varnishes 11. Putties. 4. Classification of coatings by ordinal fourth group of characters the serial number assigned to this type of coatings, and is denoted by one, two or three digits. For oil-based paints instead of numbers in the fourth group put the figure that determines the name of the varnish on which made the paint: 1 - natural varnish, 2 - varnish oksol 3 - varnish glyptal 4 - varnish pentaphthalic 5 - varnish combo. After the serial number is sometimes added an alphabetic index, which characterizes some of the features of the material. For example: CE - containing water, emulsified in the polymer; HS XC - hot and cold drying, M, PM - matt, semi; PG - low flammability. 5. Classification of coatings on color coating fifth group of characters determines the color of paint to complete and is denoted by the word. Special Products For Special products include protection of wood, fungicides, hydrophobic, rust converter, fire-retardant, insulating paints and compositions. You should not mix them together, as well as other colors, as a result of this lost their special properties. NOTE: At the heart of the rust converter used chemical reaction, neutralizing oxides and converts them into a protective film. This feature allows you to paint the oxidized metal surface without a thorough cleaning and priming. "Gidrofoboziruyuschie solutions - colorless, transparent or pigmented liquid, giving a porous water-repellent surfaces (the surface of the walls breathe, but do not miss dropping moisture). "Antifungal" solutions or paints to protect the wood from the appearance of fungus, rot and mildew.
